IT Audit Director – multinational building supplies wholesaler
This position had multiple challenges, it was a new position, the location was outside of a major urban hub, and the position was key to a global transformation project. In-house talent and audit teams had exhausted all their local and state networks, meaning they needed to conduct a US wide search.
As always our search began with a very detailed background discovery exercise. This enabled us to understand the needs of all stakeholders, and the impact of this vacancy upon them.
We also applied a psychometric assessment tool, which combined with our background discovery work enabled us to deeply understand team and company needs and culture. This helped us to quickly identify candidates most likely to succeed.
We then conducted a detailed market search, looking at relevant candidates across close competitors, similar organisations, and a broader multi-sector search to ensure candidates with the right skills and culture mix were not missed. We worked with our extensive networks, used targeted social media marketing, and tailored advertising to ensure a broad and relevant talent pool.
All targeted candidates were then screened by our search teams, this included a resume review and initial screening call. Having passed this we then conducted detailed interviews with each candidate. Candidates considered a good fit were then asked to complete psychometric tests and a video interview covering areas most relevant to the position.
From all of this data we finalised a shortlist, sending all of the supporting evidence alongside our advice and guidance. Our final shortlist for the IT Audit Director vacancy had candidates flying in from Austin, Chicago and NYC.
In the end the shortlist was deemed to be such a close fit that two positions were offered and successfully filled.
Internal Audit Director – pharmaceutical organization
Having exhausted internal sourcing channels and with no success from local search firms, IAC were engaged to identify an Internal Audit Director with a strong pharmaceutical industry background. In order to find the necessary experience, the organization needed a targeted US-wide search.
The depth of IAC’s network enabled a shortlist to be submitted within 1 week of which all candidates were interviewed. After 3 rounds of interviews and meetings an offer was made and accepted to a candidate from out of state within 2 months of the start of the engagement.

This was a very targeted search which required us to go deep to identify, engage and attract senior candidates from relevant industries. Utilizing extensive market mapping, network referral and directed head hunting we were able to present a strong and focused shortlist.
In close collaboration with the hiring manager we had detailed and honest discussions about the strengths, limitations and suitability of each of the candidates for this business-critical role in the global team. We also facilitated technical and psychometric testing.
At the end of the process the client deemed the shortlist to be so strong that an additional role was created and 2 hires were made from the search.
